Disabled vets group blasts House budget plan

Getting all the disability benefits one is entitled to isn't an easy task. Some likely find it to be an uphill battle. That's an even more appropriate analogy perhaps for military veterans who find themselves permanently disabled due to injuries suffered while in the service.

Qualifying for vet benefits depends on making the case

Our military service people deserve a great deal of thanks and gratitude for their voluntary commitments. Those who become disabled because of those commitments deserve not just gratitude, but the full measure of support called for under the Veterans Disability Compensation and Dependency and Indemnity Compensation programs.

Some disabled vet claims may get speedier SSDI consideration

Those who volunteer for service in the U.S. military give up a lot just by enlisting. If they wind up getting hurt or wounded while on active duty -- whether in a combat zone or not -- their sacrifice is that much greater. Considering all that, they should not have to endure a process of seeking disability compensation that can amount to the worst obstacle course they've ever had to run.
